RMA

RMA can stand for "Return Merchandise Authorization" or "Return Material Authorization" and is therefore the English abbreviation for material return.

The supplier assigns this identification number or the customer is obliged to request it before returning the goods so that the return process can be precisely assigned. The RMA form also indicates the type of defect or reason for return.

From a legal point of view, the customer has a right of withdrawal, which is independent of the assignment of an RMA number. If the supplier encloses a return order with a delivery, the RMA number is usually already noted on this order. Thus, the return usually proceeds faster and without errors.
