CKD

(Completely Knocked Down)

CKD describes the condition of a vehicle in which it is completely knocked down.

The automotive industry uses this opportunity to avoid increased import duties for finished end products. In addition to CKD, SKD ("semi knocked down") and MKD ("medium knocked down") are also used. In this way, local production can be established without major risks. The investments are manageable, as many complex components are imported at the beginning.

A CKD vehicle kit can either be completely transported and then assembled on site or in parts. Missing parts are then purchased on site or produced if possible.
