Working aisle width

The aisle width is the minimum distance between racks or stacked goods (pallets, containers, crates) in a warehouse.

It is important to maintain the working aisle width so that the industrial trucks used can pass unhindered and safely. It must also be ensured that they can turn, lift, lower and stack without hindrance. The required width is therefore largely dependent on the dimensions of the vehicle used.

If there are also pedestrians in the corridors, a distance of 0.75 metres should be planned in addition to the safety distance of 2x0.5 metres. The specified width for escape routes must also be taken into account; this depends on the number of persons employed.
