Swap bodies

.

Swap bodies are containers that can be parked and are similar in construction to containers.

This type of container is only used for rail and road transport. Swap bodies cannot be stacked on top of each other. The geometric dimensions are usually standardised to ensure smooth transport. The standard swap body is 6.25 or 7.15 metres long, 2.50 metres wide and 2.60 metres high.

The maximum payload always depends on the permissible total weight of the transport vehicle. Swap bodies can be placed as loading units on fold-out supports and picked up by another truck or railway wagon. For example, there are also rear tipping half-shell steel bodies for swap bodies.
